It was the perfect starting platform for my first build! Best part, the components are of such high quality they'll find a home in any future bots I build! FingerTech 'Viper' R/C Robot Kit Quality Components Robot Boy's Dad - 16th May 2012 The kit came complete with everything needed to assemble a small robot platform ready to be customized with the weapon of my choice. Being a novice builder, I particularly appreciated the simple step by step instructions with pictures. Soldering the parts was easy enough and I took about an hour to assemble the kit but it could be done much quicker. The kit is solidly built with quality parts used throughout that fit perfectly. You can even see the attention to detail FingerTech takes in their products by the little tab they provide to help you remove the tape holding the body to the base. The finished robot seems to have a lot of power and maneuverability. There is plenty of room on the base to add a weapon. Battery life has been good so far however I think I will try upgrading to rechargeable batteries in the near future. This is a great product and is a great place to start if you’re looking for a kit. Customer support has been fantastic with my Emails being answered promptly. The package came quickly even though I am in the US and FingerTech is in Canada. FingerTech 'Viper' R/C Robot Kit Excellent Kits! Central Illinois Robotics Club - 23rd February 2011 The Central Illinois Robotics Club purchased 2 of these kits to use as interactive displays at events. Kids take turns going head to head in our combat arena and try to push their opponent into a pit. We needed a RC robot platform that was robust and able to survive hours of abuse at the hands of young inexperienced drivers. The Viper kits were a perfect fit. I was able to assemble both kits in about 1 hour and made a few wiring modifications to accept rechargeable 6V Nimh packs instead of 9V batteries. The Viper is quite a bit slower operating at 6V but this made it easier for young drivers to handle. We ran the robots for 4 hours straight and they performed very well! After falling into the pit countless times and ramming into the arena wall, neither showed any signs of wear and still work perfectly. We look forward to bringing the Vipers to future club events! One suggestion: when mounting components inside the frame be sure to move them as close to the rear as possible so the majority of weight is over the tires. If the nose of the robot is significantly heavier than the rear the wheels can occasionally struggle to get sufficient traction. Click to review this product
